amenophisiv27 Dec 2015 13:20Hello everyone,
I just assembled my Besta TV bench and two matching cabinets for extension. Altogether, there are now 4 drawers, all equipped with soft-closing self-closing slides.
However, 3 out of the four slides don’t fully close by themselves! I followed the instructions exactly, checked everything four times, and used a spirit level. All the screws on the drawer slides are positioned exactly as they should be. I don’t see any way to adjust them further.
The three drawers that don’t close fully stop about 1/2 cm (1/5 inch) before fully closing, and I have to push the last bit to close them completely.
I asked at IKEA in the store, but the sales assistant was not familiar with this problem and couldn’t help. She offered to exchange the slides, but I think it would be a huge coincidence if 3 out of 4 drawers were defective.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks & regards,
Klaus

IKEA-Experte27 Dec 2015 13:46Hello, try swapping the working pair with one of the other pairs. If the working slides also function in the other cabinet with the other box and the other drawers still don’t work, it is very likely that the problem is with the slides.
Has the issue been resolved by now?
I had exactly the same problem with a Besta dresser (sideboard) measuring 120x64x38cm (47x25x15 inches) in my dining room. Two drawers, but only one of them slid in smoothly. I swapped the drawers around and found that it had to be the rails. So I exchanged them. With the new rails, the problem was exactly the same. Exchanged them again, and with the third set of rails, still the same issue.
I was almost driven crazy, and the staff at IKEA even started thinking I was crazy. After all the back and forth, the screw holes for the rails had become stripped and worn out. IKEA kindly replaced the two side panels of the cabinet for me as well. The rails on one of the drawers still didn’t work properly. Then I bought rails at another IKEA (although with a different manufacturing date printed on them), and since then everything has been fine.
I think there are simply defective rails that don’t work properly. Unfortunately, it’s all cheap junk.
