Maxwell8Hello,
I have requested several quotes from landscaping contractors and keep coming across the following item:
Aco Profiline X facade channel, gutter element PP GF, length 1000 mm (39 inches), width 155 mm (6 inches), height 50 mm (2 inches).
Galvanized mesh grate
MW 30/10, length 1000 mm (39 inches)
Pure material cost for 22 linear meters (72 feet) is about €3000.
We have approximately 12 linear meters (39 feet) of floor-to-ceiling fixed glazing and 10 linear meters (33 feet) of floor-to-ceiling windows/sliding doors. Do I really have to install a channel even for the fixed glazing instead of laying the terrace directly on drain mortar? Since the glazing is sealed, nothing should happen. I understand it for the doors... that would save a lot of money.
Or are channels unnecessary anyway due to the slope and a roof overhang of 70 cm (28 inches)?

In windy and snowy conditions, snow can pile up against the windows up to 30cm (12 inches) high. This happens despite having a 4-meter (13-foot) deep covered terrace. It depends on the wind. Your roof overhang doesn’t help at all in this case. However, I live in a region with regular snowfall. I cannot provide any information about the fixed glazing.

We will still do without it, as our terrace is covered and situated above the original ground level. But I don’t have to guarantee my own work.

Yes, there will be a terrace directly in front of that. I plan to install a channel drain at all doors. For fixed glazing where no opening is possible, I will leave them out.
Does he have any recommendations for good and affordable channel drains? The Aco ones seem quite expensive to me.
