ᐅ Draining a Pool – Experiences and Ideas?

Hello,

I’m asking on behalf of a friend! He wants to pump out his pool into the sewer using a submersible pump and a hose. What experiences do you have with using a slightly thicker hose to reach the sewer without leaving the property? For your information: all the rain gutters drain into soakaway pits, so they lie relatively flat.

My friend thanks you in advance!

A cistern would be the simplest solution. It’s probably going to be an above-ground pool anyway, which are usually quite small. Otherwise, the infrastructure would be different…

No, it is not an above-ground pool, it is a normal, "in-ground" pool 🙂

So, to clarify the question: I am looking for a type of closed (airtight) channel cover for outdoor use near the pool. It should connect to a pipe leading into the drainage system and be suitable for draining the pool using a submersible pump. A bit of background explanation: Currently, my friend pumps the water into a drain shaft next to the basement entrance (outdoor area), but this will no longer exist after the new construction.

Thanks to everyone so far for your input!

What is being newly built? The pool or the house?

The best solution is simply to connect the pool equipment to the sewer using PVC or HDPE pipes. Either install the existing sewer connection at the basement entrance during the new construction or dig around the house if needed. In a new build, the outdoor area will be affected anyway.

This way, the filter can discharge directly into the sewer. With a ball valve equipped with a rod handle, this can also be done automatically.

A submersible pump is not necessary if the pool has floor drains. However, it is also possible to install a branch with a ball valve and hose connection between the waste outlet and the sewer. This would allow an additional submersible pump to be connected if needed.

But a direct connection of the filtration system to the sewer should definitely be implemented.

Laying a PVC sewer pipe to the pool,
- a standard cover for sealing it
- a second cover where the hose can be attached and sealed using a rain barrel outlet fitting.
