ᐅ Flooring for a Double Garage – Screed with Two-Component Coating? Epoxy Resin

Hello,

I am considering having fiber-reinforced screed with a slope installed in the garage. On top of that, a two-component epoxy resin coating—that would actually be my ideal solution.

What are your experiences with epoxy resin coatings? How durable are they?
How does the material hold up if a tool or part is dropped on it? Can it be repaired easily?

We have a raw concrete slab that is 15cm (6 inches) thick.
The area is approximately 70m² (750 square feet).

There won't be a concrete slab here. The water will soak directly into the ground.

Yes, this is without a concrete slab. However, it has many disadvantages: it is difficult to keep clean, the paving settles and becomes uneven, and oil stains are hard to remove. It is basically the low, low budget solution.

That’s why we don’t have one. We only have a ring beam on which the walls stand, and the area is covered with gravel and lean concrete. So the water can infiltrate freely.

But there are also many advantages. Everyone has to decide for themselves. For us, it wasn’t a financial decision but one of principle.

That’s not an option for me, as Bookstar has already listed quite a few points.
I would prefer a smooth floor that can be easily cleaned with a squeegee.
It will probably come down to 2K resin (on screed)... that seems to me the best option.

We also had a professional apply a two-component epoxy resin in our double garage.
Directly on the concrete slab, without a screed.

I would do it the same way again.

That's exactly how we did it too.
