Hello,
we have underfloor heating throughout the entire apartment. Because of children, we need door stoppers for almost every interior door. The adhesive door stoppers did not work. We would prefer to drill some into the floor. How do you go about this and avoid damaging any pipes or cables in the floor?

Bieber081519 Dec 2016 09:58May I ask what the children do specifically with the doors? I find door stoppers useful even in homes without children if the door would otherwise hit a wall or a piece of furniture.
We have found that small plastic bumper pads, which are stuck to the wall, work well. In the home office, a rubber stopper on the cabinet suffices where the door would otherwise make contact.
I find rubber rings interesting (imagine a very thick, possibly coiled hair tie that you place over the door handle). This also provides cushioning and protects the wall (or furniture).
I would not screw anything into the floor. It either becomes a tripping hazard or is unnecessary if there is a wall nearby. Otherwise: floor covering thickness plus a minimum of 4.5 cm (1.8 inches) overlap... Just go ahead, drill a pilot hole, insert the anchor, screw in, and you’re done.

They will definitely always pay attention to that.

Are such rubber rings available in stores?

Hello,
we simply glued bumper stops to the walls as well. In some places, we will also need doorstops on the floor. If you use the slightly larger ones with about 6-8 cm (2.5-3 inches) in diameter, gluing should work fine. Silicone or Sikaflex for tougher cases.
Otherwise, drilling isn’t particularly critical. With the floor construction, you have about 4 cm (1.5 inches) of space where you can safely drill. However, depending on the tiles or porcelain stoneware, it’s not exactly enjoyable.
Best regards,
Andreas

Are these rubber rings available in stores? Try searching on eBay for "door handle stopper" or use Google Image Search with this term.
We also used felt everywhere except at the front door and in the kitchen. There, I found transparent half-sphere adhesive stoppers at the hardware store, with a diameter of approximately 5–7 cm (2–3 inches). They work very well and have held up on the tiles so far, even at the front door, which is usually a bit heavier.
//EDIT: I just looked it up and I think we have the ones from Wagner.
