HarvSpecHello everyone,
so far, the topic of door intercom systems is the most confusing for me regarding electrical installations.
What I’m looking for is basically a simple, expandable system that runs over Ethernet using PoE, so I can just run a CAT 7 cable and a J-Y(St)Y 2x2x0.8 cable to all doors and gates I might want to open at some point for the door opener.
This doesn’t seem like a very fancy requirement. However, I’m having trouble understanding the different systems. So far, I’m most interested in Doorbird.
Do you have any tips?
Regards,
Harv

It works the same way using CAT cable and a control line for the door opener. You don't even need the control line because it's possible to connect the door opener directly to the speaker module. However, for safety reasons, it's better to connect the front door directly to the control cable and operate the door opener internally (in the distribution board).
