Hello forum,

Two door fittings in the basement are going to be replaced, each with a lever handle lock with a warded key and a euro profile cylinder lock.

  • The current lever handle lock with warded key has a "key guide" in the keyhole, but the lever handle lock with warded key under consideration does not have a "key guide"—could this cause any issues?
  • Is it generally possible to replace the current lever handle lock with warded key with a euro profile cylinder lock without problems? Is there anything I should be aware of?

Yes. 🙂

(Maybe you could show one or two pictures of what you mean, then the number of replies might increase a bit.)

Two old warded locks are to be replaced, preferably with the ones shown in the pictures—one warded lock and one euro profile cylinder lock.

Would these fit, or what problems might arise from this?

So, the issue is that the current fitting has a recess shaped like a key profile, while the desired one just has a straight slot? That doesn’t really matter. (This is probably how it’s done nowadays.)

However, if you want to use a profile cylinder, you need to replace not only the fitting but also the lock.

You summarized my concern very well 🙂

So I’m not looking for an escutcheon with a cutout then...

The profile cylinder lock I still need to get should fit smoothly... – that would solve my problem 😉

If the door is accessible from the outside with the cylinder, please measure precisely to ensure it is neither too short nor too long.
