Hello, I have the following problem. For some reason, the electricians ran the cable from the door contact to the technical room instead of to the outdoor station of the doorbell. At the outdoor station, only a network cable is installed. This cable goes into the technical room. Since all the intercom systems so far have the contact at the outdoor station, I am unable to open the door (door latch). Is there any solution to this problem? My intercom system is PoE. Installing new cables, etc., is not possible. Thank you.

This means the cable for the door contact is routed all the way to the technical room. For the intercom (doorbell), there is an RJ45 network cable.
If this is the case, it is correct when you have ordered an IP intercom system.
The door contact must not be connected to the intercom in terms of burglary protection.

I think I need to correct myself.
Now I’m not 100% sure how I did it five years ago.
I believe I only installed a network cable at the door station. The door opener is controlled through the IP intercom system server.
However, I’m no longer sure if I also connected the door opener directly to the intercom system.
I’ll take a quick look at my documents later.
Maybe someone is currently more experienced with this topic than I am.

The door contact should not be connected directly to the intercom for security reasons.

Okay, but how is the door contact wired then? According to the wiring diagram for the intercom system, the cable runs from the door frame to the intercom. I have looked at several intercom systems, and they all have the same wiring method (potential-free contact or 12V contact).

Currently, the wiring is as follows: The router is located in the technical room. The hands-free display unit is in the hallway. The doorbell/camera intercom station is outside. All cables run to the technical room and are connected to the router. The cable for the door frame also runs to the technical room. Thanks.

On the outside, at the "doorbell," there should only be a bus cable (usually a network cable). From there, the bus connection runs to the control unit, which is securely installed inside the house. From that unit, the door opener or electric lock is activated. So, your wiring doesn’t sound incorrect at first.

If you have an intercom system where the outdoor unit also serves as the control unit: please dispose of it immediately and do not install it! A burglar could easily pry the outdoor unit off the wall, apply 12V to the two correct wires, and voilà—the door opens...!

Best regards,

Andreas

The control unit then operates the door opener/motorized lock. So, your wiring setup doesn’t seem wrong at first glance.

If you have an intercom where the outdoor unit also serves as the control unit: please get rid of it immediately and never install it! A burglar can easily pry off the outdoor unit, apply 12V to the two correct wires, and voilà, the door opens...!

Hello,

I have the Metzler VMD10 POE intercom system. I couldn’t find any other manufacturer or supplier where the door opener is NOT controlled from the outdoor station. Do you have any suggestions? As shown in the picture, only a network cable is installed outside. Thank you.
