Hello,

Since we currently have a domestic hot water heat pump in our rental apartment (resulting in extremely low additional costs for hot water), I was just wondering if it would be possible to install a domestic hot water heat pump in the planned new house as well, either as a supplement to or independent from the air-to-water heat pump used for heating? Our preferred setup would be a combination of gas/solar and a domestic hot water heat pump, like we have now. The air-to-water heat pump cannot provide domestic hot water, or am I completely mistaken? I am a complete beginner in this area.

Where does my hot water for showering and cooking actually come from? From the hydraulic separator of the air-to-water heat pump? And how does the water flow into the underfloor heating system?

Maybe I have a misunderstanding. Please feel free to clarify.

The air-to-water heat pump also heats your water and has a storage tank next to it (or integrated internally as a compact unit).
Domestic hot water and underfloor heating are produced separately at different temperatures.

Oh, thank you Alex85! I’m a bit embarrassed by this post, but now I understand. I didn’t know about the two separate systems. :-) Let’s just forget about it. Dear moderator, I hereby request deletion!

I have a Vaillant Arostar air-to-water heat pump for our domestic hot water. It works really well, is very quiet (the previous model was quite loud), and has low maintenance and electricity costs. I would definitely choose it again.
