a question for dog and parquet flooring experts: We have a standard parquet floor, which can probably only be sanded down twice at most because it is so thin, on the ground floor, and a large dog who, when excited or when someone is at the door, digs his claws into the floor to get there faster than I can. Now we have these unpleasant scratches. Additionally, in the spots where our dog lies down after a long walk, narrow gaps have formed in the floor (due to moisture in the fur).
I would like to sand the floor again, but after that...
My question is, is there a parquet floor protection that looks natural and won’t get scratched again by dog claws?
Does anyone have any ideas?
I don’t want to install tiles throughout the ground floor; it’s just too cold for me, and I simply like parquet in the living room. As for living with the scratches, I have thought about that, but it’s a pity to damage the floor.
Thanks for any tips, I appreciate it!

Completely scratch-resistant parquet flooring does not exist. In your case, I would definitely recommend oiling the floor after sanding rather than sealing it. An oiled surface can always be refreshed partially if needed. During maintenance cleaning (damp mopping with wood floor soap), an oiled parquet floor is able to absorb moisture, which helps to reduce the appearance of light scratches.
