morladHello,
my construction company has fallen behind schedule and now wants to make up time with the screed installation. The plan is to use floating cement screed in my house. Before construction started, I was told that the screed needs to dry for at least 28 days. Now, since they are behind schedule, the site manager told me they will add a chemical additive to the screed to reduce the drying time to 14 days.
My question is whether this is correct and if the quality will remain the same?
Thanks in advance
Gerald

That’s okay. It costs the company a bit more. We have it as well. There are countless opinions on this topic – everyone recommends something different... The chemical additive helps with the bonding of the screed. Just for your information: we are currently having discussions because the screed settled by about 0.5 to 1.5 cm (0.2 to 0.6 inches) after 8 months. Now the baseboards are hanging in the air... I don’t know if this also happens with regular screed without chemical additives.
