kenkloHello everyone, I am considering getting the Ikea Brimnes bed with storage drawers, but I’m still unsure how well this piece of furniture actually performs in everyday use. Does anyone have practical experience with the daily usability of the BRIMNES series, especially regarding stability, comfort, and how easy the drawers are to operate? I’m also interested in any potential difficulties with assembly or cleaning, as well as how much storage space can really be used effectively. Thanks in advance for your detailed feedback!

The drawers are sufficiently large and slide smoothly, but they should not be loaded too heavily, as this can cause minor stability issues. Assembly is relatively straightforward, although in my opinion, an LED light on the headboard is missing. Cleaning is simple since the surfaces are smooth.

According to the manufacturer, the load limit for each drawer is approximately 15 kg (33 lbs); this limit should not be exceeded to ensure long-lasting functionality.
The material is a medium-density particleboard composite with a melamine coating, which is relatively resistant to scratches and moisture spots. However, I do not recommend wet wiping with heavy water application.
Assembly note: Due to the complexity, it is advisable to have at least one person to assist, as the headboard tends to be heavy.
Regarding comfort, the slatted frame attachment is solid, but it is recommended to select a higher-quality slatted frame separately for better sleep quality.

I generally find the BRIMNES concept clever, but it’s not necessarily suitable for every day use. The drawers are large, but accessing them isn’t the most convenient—especially if the bed is placed close to the wall, it gets quite tight.

In my opinion, people often overlook that such furniture may seem functional but compromises in design and materials limit durability. Those who value a long-lasting, truly stable bed might want to consider other systems offering better load capacity.
