Hello everyone, I have a question that has been on my mind for a while: Have you noticed streaks or smears on the surface of your IKEA Kallax shelves after using certain cleaning products? I usually clean my Kallax with common all-purpose cleaners, but the result often looks blotchy, especially if the shelf doesn’t dry immediately or if I use a microfiber cloth. I’m particularly interested to hear if others have had similar experiences and if there are any recommendations for cleaning agents that work better to avoid streaking. It would also be helpful to know whether the issue is caused by the material itself or by the cleaners used and how they are applied. Looking forward to your opinions and advice.

So far, I haven't noticed any streaking issues on my Kallax after cleaning. I only use slightly damp cloths without any cleaning agents.

It’s really frustrating when streaks appear even though you’re trying to keep the shelf clean. For me, it happened when I used a strong cleaning agent, which changed the surface appearance. Maybe switching to gentler cleaners could help? Have you tried cleaning with just water and a little dish soap?

I only use clear water and a soft cloth. I did not have any streaks.

I understand that this can be frustrating, as you want a well-maintained piece of furniture without any leftover residues. In my experience, some all-purpose cleaners can leave residues if they are not rinsed off thoroughly. It might help to let the cleaning product sit for a short time and then wipe it off with a damp cloth. Sometimes patience is needed to avoid streaks.

When plastering agents start to leave streaks, it is usually due to soap content or residue. Therefore, either wipe thoroughly afterward or use only a small amount of product.
