See attachment: an initial plan
In the top right, we have planned the kitchen, and to the left of it, the dining room.
1.) Question: If the kitchen has large cabinets, do I still need a pantry/storage room?
2.) Question: Is the space sufficient? I would really like an open kitchen with a cooking island and a dining area for at least 6 people that can also be extended. I only want 2 or 3 children but have a very large family.
Should we enlarge the house, or can all my wishes be realized in this space? Thank you for your support!!!

I do not interpret the erased remnants as a central island, but rather as a lower counter (G-shape); then the width should fit.
Relocating the basement stairway to the kitchen side seems sufficient for ingredient storage without requiring long detours.

I also consider 350 cm (140 inches) too narrow for a true island kitchen. One could consider placing a tall cabinet wall with an integrated secondary counter along the wall by the stairs at the bottom of the plan, for storing a coffee machine and similar items. Then, an island about 100 cm (40 inches) deep could be placed approximately 100 cm (40 inches) away. The island should be at least 300 to 330 cm (120 to 130 inches) wide. If you then plan for an 80 cm (32 inches) wide walkway on the right side of the plan for access around the island, about 380 to 410 cm (150 to 162 inches) of the total 750 cm (295 inches) width is already used—so you need to consider if that leaves enough space for the dining table and other furniture.
Whether the cabinets provide enough storage for all intended items can only be determined by doing a detailed storage plan for each kitchen layout. This also helps verify the positioning of appliances, as you think about how to organize your things practically.
1.) No. Plan for a 60cm (24 inches) tall cabinet for food storage per 2 people. Consider where beverage crates and empties will be stored, and where a second refrigerator or freezer will be located.
2.) A kitchen island about 2 meters (6.5 feet) long also looks good. It is important that there is countertop and storage space along the walls as well for preparation. A square kitchen island, for example 1.40 x 1.40 meters (4.6 x 4.6 feet), also looks nice. The advantage is that you can have the whole family stand on each side to make cookies 😉
3.) I would have a “problem” passing by the living room to get through the bottleneck and then past the dining table to reach the kitchen. For me, the refrigerator or the island is the first stop when bringing in groceries 😉 I would swap the functions of the living room and kitchen.
And 4.) The cloakroom leading to the bathroom is absolutely not ideal, or even very poor: From experience, the cloakroom tends to be a place where shoes are quickly dropped off, and scarves are tossed into the corner. This eliminates any barrier-free access to the bathroom. I can imagine two cabinets being planned here? That’s also not ideal when you have to open doors behind doors. People will get in each other’s way. I would solve that differently.
