We have finally tackled a project that felt like it would never end. The wall opening for our refrigerator (60cm wide, 24 inches) was a non-standard size. So, no pre-made frame fit. We ended up building one ourselves using simple lumber from the hardware store. The challenge was that the pantry door is located right next to it. Visually, we wanted the refrigerator frame to match the door frame as closely as possible. Here is the successful result. Best regards, Steffi33

Looks great visually. I hope the device lasts a long time and that the format remains available.

That could be ours based on the handles. Samsung? Isn’t the fridge door a bit... inconvenient when it’s positioned next to the counter like that? Or can it be opened the other way around (ours, I believe, has handles on both sides to easily switch the door swing)?

Hello Yvonne, ours is a Bauknecht. We changed the door hinge. The door handles are on both sides, so it’s a bit misleading. @hampshire: The fridge dimensions seem quite common. We also have some leeway in height. When buying new, we could have chosen between different brands in terms of size. I hope that will remain the case in the future as well. Have a great start to the new year. Best regards, Steffi

Nice idea. Now all that’s missing is a way to load the refrigerator from the back—through the pantry.
