Hello everyone,

When painting a storage room, I first applied lime mineral paint and then painted over the still wet paint with an acrylic dispersion paint because I was not satisfied with the coverage of the mineral paint and didn’t want to go over it again. The paints used were proNatur lime mineral paint and Brillux Superlux ELF 3000.

This was a few months ago, and since then there has been a slight sharp odor of paint in the storage room. I wanted to ask if mixing these paints could produce any potentially harmful substances or fumes through a reaction, or if the smell is harmless—in which case it wouldn’t bother me, as no food is stored in the room. I am aware that, in general, paints should not be mixed; mistakes happen.

If it is harmful to health, what would be the recommended remediation? Could I apply a primer/sealant, or would all the paint need to be sanded off?

I know it’s a somewhat unusual idea... but both Brillux and Pronatur offer professional consultation services that can be contacted by phone or email.
