Hello everyone,

I want to sell my Maskros lamp now. My girlfriend doesn’t find it very attractive (I really don’t understand why), so it has to go before the move.

Now I have the problem that I don’t know how to take the thing apart. It’s mostly plastic, but it’s also very fragile.

Has anyone had experience with this lamp?

Of course, I could ship the lamp as it is, but it’s quite large and not very sturdy.

It would be great if someone could help me.

Take the instructions (the PDF is available from Ikea) and then work backwards?

Exactly, instructions in reverse. To separate the "stars" from the rods, it makes sense to use a screwdriver with a very fine blade. As with all clipped plastic parts, there is always a risk of breaking the retaining tabs.
I don’t understand your girlfriend either. Well, women are like that.

Thanks first of all for the contributions.

Working backward from the instructions is a bit tricky. Removing the "stars" is no problem, but to get the "half-moons with the embedded metal rods" off, you need to apply force. And that makes me a bit worried.

How would you package the lamp to ship it as a whole?

It’s best to use a (large!) sturdy box or carton and wrap several layers of bubble wrap around it. Then fill the corners with polystyrene chips or similar material. Alternatively, you can post an ad on classified sites like eBay Classifieds for local pickup.

I dismantled the Maskros lamp relatively easily before our move, but of course it was time-consuming (160 paper petals...). The petals can be removed quite easily using your screwdriver (insert the thin screwdriver into both clips one after the other and twist slightly). You just need to hold and pull the stems directly at the middle of the curve. Don’t try to pry anything off with the screwdriver! That goes pretty quickly!! Greetings from Vienna
