Hi. Does anyone have a DISKODANS blackout roller blind and can tell me how it works when rolling it up? I can’t make sense of page 15 of the manual – does it mean it retracts automatically? If so, how does it work and from what length? I only want to pull it out about 80cm (31 inches).

I have the Tupplur roller blind, which should behave the same as the Dikodans.
When you pull the blind down, you tension a spring that then retracts the blind automatically when opening.
To do this, as shown in the top left picture on page 15, pull the blind down briefly and release it; it will then roll up by itself thanks to the spring.
Best regards

Sektionschef13 Jun 2016 13:37Hello, thanks. I assume this works at any height, meaning that a short pull causes it to roll up again? Does the rolling happen very quickly? Well, it already starts with the fact that it does not necessarily stay down at every position when you pull it down.
For example, you pull the blind down to the desired position, and sometimes, when you release the downward pressure, it either wants to roll up completely again or stays in position.
So it may be necessary to pull the blind up and down a few times briefly to "feel" whether it will hold in that position. I hope I can explain this somewhat clearly.
It’s similar when rolling it up:
If you pull the blind down too long, it may stay in the new position instead of rolling up.
You might have to pull it down briefly a few times for it to roll up on its own.
This all sounds very imperfect, but it’s not actually that bad. To me, the mechanism just doesn’t seem completely reliable. So far, though, if it didn’t work on the first attempt, it always worked after one or two more tries.

IKEA-Experte13 Jun 2016 15:03The only real problem is when the roller blind is supposed to rest on the windowsill, but the mechanism locks it just above it or causes it to hang and create folds. For that reason, I replaced the mechanism on the TUPPLUR with a side-pull roller from an old TUPPLUR.
A few months ago, I bought the blind in black because I didn’t want white or gray, and now there is a great purple color available.
