ᐅ Dishwasher front panels

Hello
Has anyone here already looked into the installation options for dishwasher fronts in the new Metod kitchen system? I have spent some time researching this topic and would like to share my current findings with you:
As I understand it, IKEA now offers the option in Metod to have the dishwasher fronts divided, so they appear as if the dishwasher has multiple drawers. Alternatively, you can install a continuous door as before. This can also be selected in the online planner, which will then display the desired front layout.
Additionally, I found out that Metod requires a special mechanism where the dishwasher fronts slide along rails attached to the dishwasher door. I think it works similarly to the sliding doors on refrigerators.
What isn’t clear to me yet is whether this special sliding mechanism is mandatory with Metod, or if you can still mount the front fixed directly to the dishwasher door as before. Does this have something to do with the different plinth height between Metod and Faktum?
If you want to attach multiple partial fronts to the dishwasher door, you need the Vaglig (20250663) product. This consists of two rails that hold the partial fronts together. But as far as I understand, this does not include the sliding mechanism itself.
For the sliding mechanism, you then need either Resonlig (50248348) or Behjälplig (50242426). The difference between these two seems to be that they fit different dishwasher models (Resonlig for Skinande, Rengöra, and LAGAN; Behjälplig for Hjälpsam). However, I have not yet figured out which one is needed for a non-IKEA dishwasher.
There is also Ersättare (00250664), which appears to be an installation solution for semi-integrated dishwashers. Since IKEA does not offer semi-integrated appliances in their range, Ersättare is probably designed specifically for non-IKEA models that you want to install in Metod. I have also looked at the installation instructions for Ersättare, but some things are still unclear to me:
As I understand it, the lower part of the front must be a partial front with a height of 20cm (8 inches), which is hinged in such a way that it flips open when the dishwasher door is opened. Does this mean that a continuous front is not possible with semi-integrated dishwashers???
Additionally, the instructions state that the upper partial front, also 20cm (8 inches) high, must be cut to size depending on the dishwasher’s trim height. I assume this would only apply to fronts without embossed patterns, because if, for example, I cut a Lidingö front (which has an embossed pattern) in the middle at 20cm (8 inches), I would be cutting through the design?
Since I want to install an existing dishwasher with a semi-integrated front in my new Metod kitchen with Lidingö/Bodbyn fronts, I am currently puzzled about how the installation should actually look.
Since Metod will be available in Austria from April 1st, I will definitely ask IKEA then.
Does anyone already know the answers to my questions?
Best regards

The folding hinge will not be useful for the front. According to the dimension drawings for the folding hinge, the upper half of the front needs to be 700 - 725 mm (27.5 - 28.5 inches) high, and the lower half, which will be attached to the folding hinge, should be 805 mm (31.7 inches) minus the height of the upper front.

Assembly kit: two grey metal angle brackets with screws, bolts, and small parts.

Good grief, I’m starting to get square eyes….

Thanks for the tip about the folding hinges and split fronts. I don’t want a split front.

By now, I’ve narrowed down my selection to the following models with adjustable hinges, which are roughly within my budget (all the others I found are more expensive than I’m willing to pay for a dishwasher):

Bosch SBE65N00EU 42 dB with vario
Bosch SBE63N20EU 44 dB with vario

Siemens SX76P030EU with vario 44 dB
Siemens SX76N057EU with vario 44 dB

Neff GX 661 (S72N65X4EU) with vario 44 dB

I’m having a hard time deciding. As a layperson, I don’t really see major differences between these machines, except that the Bosch SBE65N00EU is a bit quieter than the others. Since we have an open-plan kitchen-living area, that could be an important factor.

There are reviews available online for most of these models (though they should be taken with a grain of salt), but with so many different dishwasher models out there, there’s hardly any detailed info.

The front fits, and for an open-plan kitchen, I would definitely choose 42 dB.

In case it helps anyone with their planning:
I just installed a BSH dishwasher over the weekend (adjustable height from 860-890mm (34-35 inches)) using the Behjälplig hinge, and I have to say it was very easy.
The key point is to align the dishwasher’s distance to the front edge of the adjacent cabinet exactly as described in the instructions, and to firmly connect the mounting strips to the dishwasher door using (quick) clamps. (Unintentionally, I did not mark or pre-drill, but directly screwed in with the mounting screws included with the dishwasher, which seem to be self-drilling.) You can see where to screw by looking at the dishwasher door’s front side to find holes where screws can be inserted (on my model, there are two on the side and one on the top).

Best regards,

Thank you for the many responses.

I am particularly interested in the Behjälplig:
Is it really practical?
I mean, you open and close the dishwasher door many times a day.
Will it really hold up stably over the years?
What about the weight of the front? With Behjälplig, a larger and therefore heavier front is attached to the dishwasher, which it wasn’t originally designed for.
How does it look visually? When the dishwasher door is fully open, the front extends several centimeters (inches) beyond the dishwasher door. I can well imagine that dripping dishes when loading could cause moisture there, which might then run between the front and the dishwasher door when closing, right?

Since I also need a fully integrated dishwasher for my Metod kitchen and want to install a unit from the BSH group, I’m leaning more towards choosing an XXL appliance with a Vario hinge to avoid the issues mentioned above altogether.
What do you think?
