ᐅ Sizing and positioning windows in stairwells – any tips?

Hello,
we are planning a stair landing inside our single-family house with a window above the landing to bring light into the corridors. Unfortunately, the window faces the covered passage between the house and the garage. How should the window be best sized and positioned to maximize the amount of light?

We also have a landing staircase, to which we added a 2x2 m (6.5x6.5 ft) window. We imagine it will look great from the inside, and there should be more than enough light coming in.
