Hello everyone,
I have the following situation and hope someone here can help me.
Last year, we built one half of a semi-detached house using solid construction. This year, the other half was added by a prefabricated house company. After measuring, the roof heights unfortunately do not match; the prefabricated house half is about 25 cm (10 inches) higher.
The costs for the metal flashing that connects the two roofs are now supposed to be shared. I believe the fault and therefore the cost responsibility lies with the prefabricated house company. Does anyone have experience with this and can share their insights?
Thank you

P.S. Whoever builds second must also take care of this = it’s their responsibility, not yours. Not even half.

It is the neighbor’s responsibility to prevent any impact. If the work is not carried out properly, you could potentially have a claim for damages (in case of damage to your semi-detached house).
I would communicate it that way as well.

Unfortunately, the two halves of the roof do not align in height; one prefab house half is about 25cm (10 inches) higher. The cost of the metal sheet that connects the two roofs I consider it complete nonsense to try to cover a height difference of 25cm (10 inches) with metal flashing—especially between halves with different construction methods and therefore roughly different settlement behavior. Show the situation, preferably both as a photo from the construction site and as a drawing from the neighboring building permit/planning permission. Regarding the costs, I agree with the previous poster (post #2), but I see the technical construction issue as the more serious problem.
