Hello everyone,

In the next few weeks, we plan to install the flooring and then fit the doors and door frames (in that order). The doors have been ordered but have not yet been delivered.

Now we are wondering at which point we should place the floor transition strip so that it will later be exactly under the door leaf.

Is it possible to calculate this based on the door and frame measurements? I would need to know how far the future center of the door leaf will be from the wall.

The door is the Mosel Cala 01.

Attached is the datasheet from the website.

Maybe someone is familiar with this.

Regards,
Simon

Install it (if needed at all) in line with the wall edges. This line will be under the door leaf.

As I said, I don’t understand why you want to use a profile at all?

Doesn’t the expansion joint in the screed specify that?
That’s why you need the profile. Or you simply fill the joint with something. There are joint fillers made of cork.
Silicone would probably be the least attractive option...

Depending on the room size, the joint is usually not a concern with glued flooring. We also don’t know which type of flooring is involved. And another question: glued or floating installation?

What kind of profile? There are many different types. Same flooring height or different heights? Different materials? That’s why the question to the original poster.

Something like this is, for example, (visually) not acceptable:

Cross section of a wooden floor with planks, underlay, and metal profile.

This would be better:

Transition between two floorings: light gray laminate next to brown wooden floor with silver metal strip

Or simply like this with cork:

Close-up of a light gray wooden plank floor with grain

There are many more possibilities.

It’s about installing parquet flooring as a floating floor.
Parquet to parquet or parquet to tiles.

Actually, what is shown in the first picture was the plan.

Set back 1cm (0.4 inches) where the door will later be installed; that usually fits.
