Hello everyone,

we need a water softening system for our new house and are currently deciding between the BWT Perla and the Judo i-soft plus. According to some opinions, the BWT is among the best on the market, while the Judo i-soft plus is recommended by our heating engineer. An advantage here would be that I get direct KNX access.

Can you share any insights about the brands and models? I find it difficult to assess their quality.

Thanks in advance.

I’m not familiar with the Judo system. I wouldn’t focus too much on the KNX access. You set up the system once and just add salt every few months.

Your technical room is probably close to the water softener. Just check it regularly. Do you have a water filter with automatic backflushing? If not, you’ll need to check that regularly as well...

You can integrate KNX later if you really find it necessary.

For some devices, the status can also be accessed via an app.

We will install a Perla (Duplex). I haven't decided yet whether to integrate it with KNX, but probably not.

We have the Judo and are very satisfied, but make sure to choose the better model. I don’t know the exact name of the model, but it has an emergency power supply, which is definitely something you should have….

Because if the power goes out while it’s flushing, the room will turn into a swimming pool in no time…

Does this thing not have a sensor? ops:

Our answer is no... but if you don’t have a lift station (sump pump) or your system isn’t below the sewer line, then you don’t need one. In that case, you just connect the system directly to the wastewater drain.

However, we do have a lift station, and if the power goes out and it fails, the Judo pump would keep flushing continuously.

Ah, I see now. I thought the thing would become “leaky” or overflow.
A backup power supply for the sewage lifting station might be useful. But if there is no electricity, the water softener shouldn’t work either, right?
