Hello everyone,

At the moment, I’m a bit concerned about my roof, which has already been covered. After inspecting the work done by the roofers and walking around the scaffolding, I noticed that on many roof tiles, small spots of the red clay base show through the slate-gray engobe coating. These spots are only about the size of a pinhead, but there are very many of them and they appear quite regularly. I also tried wiping the tiles with a damp cloth, thinking it might be "clay dust," but that turned out not to be the case.

The tiles used are the Plano 11 model from Koramic/Wienerberger. I have not seen these spots on other engobed tiles from the same or different manufacturers, which makes me worried that this might be a production defect. This is quite frustrating, especially since the tiles were not cheap and I’m not convinced about the quality. To me, it looks like the engobe was applied too thinly.

Do you have any assessment of this issue?

Best regards

Lu
