ᐅ Poor Window Installation

Hello everyone,

A few months ago, we had new PVC windows, new roller shutters, and new aluminum window sills installed.

A local family-run business in its fourth generation with a nice website carried out the work.

Unfortunately, many defects occurred, see photos.

The window installer is reluctantly "willing" to fix some issues, including removing and reinstalling the exterior window sills, but insists on very precise specifications from the facade renovator/painter or from us as the client regarding the "interior plaster edge" or "plaster reveal," because we want an APU strip.

Since the painter working for the window installer (who is currently blocking the renovation) is now frustrated, we as the client have to take action again.

Where can we find technical guidelines on how to install window sills on new windows and existing window reveals according to aRdT?

Thank you for your advice.

The inlays and the floor-level cover caps top it all off. The installer obviously has a different native language than aRdT, DIN, RAL & Co. The lawyer should draft something agreeing to a third-party execution, instead of risking compensation claims that I see as more certain than amen in church.

This belongs on television ops:

He deleted our review from his homepage, which was edited with Photoshop.

Well, even if he wants to do it properly, the photos show that he can’t. That worries me much more.

>>>We share that opinion, yet he is fully booked.

He hides his mistakes behind the customer’s back with colored pencils, silicone joints, or moldings. "That’s completely normal; we always do it this way."

"In northern Germany, they often use moldings." "They also use moldings with parquet flooring."

Regarding the damage to the parquet, he casually said: "Just put a carpet over it" and so on...

The lawyer should draft something stating he agrees to third-party corrections....

1. Experience by phone with the same distributor 60 km (37 miles) away: "We don’t want to interfere with our fellow professionals’ work." … "We would have to charge you hourly because we don’t make money that way; we only earn on window sales....

2. Experience: Another window installer came to the site and said he already got burned before, so he stays away from repairs... Aside from that, he works with a different window system and doesn’t want to start with something new.

Inquire at the Chamber of Crafts

I called them again today. They offer a "voluntary mediation process." If the contractor remains uncooperative, nothing will happen.
