Hi everyone,

we have now been using 5 decentralized fans from Vario-Vent for almost 14 months.
It’s time to share some feedback.

First of all: if you are about to make a purchase, definitely go for the Silent series. They are really very quiet.

More to come...

What I can say without hesitation is that the operation is really very good. As an intensive user of such devices, I still see room for improvement, but overall it is excellent.

You can control the fans via a web interface. Either over the Internet, if the unit is connected to the network (via Wi-Fi), or you can always connect with your smartphone, PC, or any other device to the unit’s Wi-Fi network. Then you can control it through the respective portal.

What is really not good is that one of the fans extracting the exhaust air from the bathroom has broken down for the umpteenth time. Unfortunately, it always takes about 3 to 4 weeks to get the issue resolved. Apparently, they don’t handle moisture very well.. 🙁

I’m also not entirely convinced about the heat recovery efficiency yet. I need to measure it myself. At the moment, I don’t fully trust the sensors.

Hello Mauhin. Since December 2016, we have had 6 Vario-vent units in operation. The following issues have occurred: Four of them have had defective sensors for the past 3 months, one (the 5th) has a complete electronics failure. Additionally, one unit had a faulty Wi-Fi, and furthermore, the hotspot was also defective. Severe moisture damage destroyed the drywall in the interior of two units. The filters have always been cleaned regularly as recommended.

The installer has now mounted the Vario-vents at a slightly steeper angle, meaning the outer installation pipe is tilted more, which seems to allow the condensation to drain outside. The manufacturer’s company and the installer have already tried to seal the interior with adhesive tape, but the tape is now coming loose.

Our building is a block made up of 10 apartments, and EVERY apartment is experiencing problems. The manufacturer is extremely unprofessional; appointments are promised and then canceled, and return calls are just wishful thinking. Their last action was to disconnect the guest bathroom due to an electronics failure with the comment, “It’s just a guest bathroom anyway, we will call next week to schedule a new appointment,” which was 5 weeks ago!

Now, an expert will come next week because I refused to allow further manipulation of the units before clarifying the actual cause of this almost complete failure. Evidence in the form of photos and emails is of course available—a true ordeal lasting more than 16 months!

Regards, René

At my home, the same issue. Broken connections and faulty sensors. By now, all six fans have already been replaced. The warranty has expired. I just received another email: the temperature sensor in my bedroom is defective...

The fans are definitely not recommended, and the company ZSA as well as their customer service are unwilling to resolve the ongoing problems.

Hello "Hechflo". Things are improving for us now. The company ZSA has installed a kind of air deflector made of foam on two devices with duct connections. This prevents the drawn-in air from coming into contact with the cover of the internal casing. This eliminates the air bridge and has effectively reduced the amount of condensation significantly. This winter, unfortunately, three apartment owners still experienced condensation issues, and two others again had a defective hotspot. Additionally, one of my already replaced temperature sensors is defective again. I have now programmed the devices to run only a few extra hours per day, since the humidity in the apartment is only around 40 - 45%. When measuring with a thermal imaging camera, I noticed that the supplied outside air is indeed too cold at low temperatures during continuous operation. For now, I am satisfied with how it works. It would be ideal to have a permanently installed button to temporarily set the fans in the bathroom and guest toilet to, for example, level 3, just like a typical toilet ventilation system. This way, you wouldn’t have to use the app or the control panel every time. Otherwise, you are forced, or simply choose, to keep these fans running continuously.
