We have had a device like this in our bedroom for 5 years and are very satisfied with it.
It has 3 speed settings for the two built-in computer fans, and we only use level 2. You get used to the quiet humming. My measurements of the incoming and outgoing air temperatures showed an efficiency of about 85%. That’s good enough for us.

Especially now in the cold weather, you can hardly keep the bedroom window tilted open all night like in summer. Then the device is switched off.

I actually wanted to install one throughout the whole house, but because of the medicine cabinet look, the idea wasn’t well received.

Over the 5 years, the price has risen quite a bit, I just noticed. I wonder if that’s really justified?

By the way, I installed it myself, which was easy. You only need a suitable core drill bit costing about 3.50€ and a splash of luck. Then spray foam insulation and a vacuum cleaner for cleaning.

Hello!

Yes, that makes sense. Ventilation unit running with a tilted window – and with cold weather, window closed and system off 😀.

Then I’d better not ask how the efficiency was calculated.

Apparently, decentralized systems are quite rare – or people hesitate to share their experiences. Unfortunately, I was also unable to find out how the ventilation unit could provide significant benefits in these systems 😕.

From everything I have read about controlled residential ventilation, a decentralized system usually only makes sense for retrofitting or for the "bacteria" group that wants to avoid ductwork.
In my opinion, a decentralized controlled ventilation system (especially one with heat recovery) is nonsense. 85% heat recovery through a ceramic plate? Seriously?
If a decentralized system with heat recovery is chosen, then it should be a window-forced ventilation system combined with an exhaust air heat pump.
However, I don’t consider heat recovery absolutely necessary. If you rely on window ventilation, the heat is lost anyway...

Luckily, my central controlled residential ventilation system with heat recovery will be put into operation today.
