Hello,

I am looking for experiences with daylight lamps.
We chose not to install windows in our basement (due to the costs of waterproof shafts and windows) and are now looking for a good lighting solution.

Has anyone here had experience with daylight lamps?

Best regards
Robin

Hello Robson, my experience with daylight lamps is limited to a desk lamp. I bought it because my home office is quite dark. I am really satisfied with it.

I have daylight fluorescent tubes in the home office and am satisfied with them; they provide good brightness.

Today, I would probably use LEDs for that, but back then they were either not available or not affordable and of good quality.

LEDs are of course also an option. However, daylight lamps are said to brighten the mood as well.

I am only aware of the effect of suppressed melatonin production that occurs at wavelengths around 490 nm.

However, we only have LEDs now, and I do not notice any impact on my circadian rhythm or my sleep quality. Nowadays, LED light sources no longer have a large peak in this wavelength range.

Especially in the basement, people don’t usually spend much time there, do they? I would try to avoid spotlights as much as possible and use many broad-area lights or indirect lighting instead.

The basement includes a hobby and playroom, so we want to install high-quality lighting there.
