I am reaching out to those who have been living with dark external venetian blinds for some time. We are currently facing this decision, and there is a lot of discussion about how dark blinds tend to show dirt much more easily compared to lighter ones. What I would really like to know is the following:
- How often do you clean your dark external venetian blinds? I understand this is very subjective, but I’m interested in hearing about your different approaches.
- I assume many of you considered the issue of dirt and cleaning before purchasing dark blinds. Now that you’ve had them for a while, is the cleaning effort really as expected, less troublesome, or more so?
- Would you choose dark blinds again next time, or would you rather go for lighter ones?
It’s really a tough choice since my gut says dark (we just really like it combined with the facade in RAL 9002 Grey White), but my head leans toward lighter.

thank you for your information. As mentioned, I already have this myself and I am now interested in user opinions from those who have chosen a darker option (e.g., RAL 7016 anthracite gray, 8019 gray brown) and have been "living" with it for some time (about 6 months or more).

Sebastian7927 Aug 2016 12:46We have had them for just under 3 months, but I would choose the dark color again. Although I also think silver is fine – they all get dirty about the same.
They are RAL 7012.
We previously had silver ones as well, but I believe the supposedly higher light efficiency is somewhat overrated. Both were on the west side, and I feel very good about this choice.

We are also getting the dark ones. I wouldn’t base my decision on cleaning. What good does it do you to look at a color for the next 20 years that you didn’t actually want?
I didn’t think about the cleaning at all; we also have anthracite-colored aluminum roller shutters everywhere...

Most likely, the belly will be the final choice for us as well. However, we are still debating between 7016 anthracite and 8019 gray brown. We are leaning more towards the latter, as the brown tone gives a warmer impression. Unfortunately, this color is not standard and we haven't been able to see it in person anywhere yet, since no one around us has it.
