I have a Danfoss heating station for underfloor heating and domestic hot water preparation. It is the Complete WR 37 system. The hot water for the heat exchanger comes from an external pellet boiler, and everything should be fine since 20 other houses have no problems with it.

I have a digital heat meter and can see from it that when I turn on the hot water tap, at most 3 kW of heating power is being used. The water coming out is accordingly cold.
I also noticed that the flow through the heat exchanger continues even after turning off the hot water tap, and about 1 kW of heat is still being drawn. You can even hear the water flowing through the heat exchanger, although no consumption is occurring. Because of this, the following happens: when I turn on the hot water tap and wait a bit, very hot water comes from the heat exchanger, and after 3–4 seconds of flow, no more warm water follows. I think the heat exchanger then slowly reheats the water inside, and after about one minute, I get another short burst of very hot water.
Does anyone have any idea where the problem could be?

The large, manual controller in the middle, which adjusts up to setting 4, might be involved in the issue, but I have already turned it fully up and down in both directions without any noticeable improvement. Now I am not sure what position I should leave it in.

What could be the cause of this behavior?
It appeared after we were away from home for 10 days.
The system is about 10 years old.
