Hello everyone,

I have a small problem. We are currently building with a developer, and during the last inspection, we noticed something (see picture).

According to the site manager, one brick was missing and was filled in using traditional masonry techniques.
It is clear that the brick was broken off and then replaced by masonry.

When we asked the site manager about it, we were told that it will stay like that and this is completely legitimate.

Is this statement correct? Can we accept it like this, or is it totally wrong?

It is a KfW55 house.

We would be very grateful for helpful answers.

Construction scaffolding in front of unfinished exterior wall of a building at construction site

Oh dear, I would call for a construction stop.

Just kidding, what’s so bad about it? The roof isn’t even on yet.

Why should something be broken there? It looks pretty normal to me.

Various materials. Which type of masonry material is specified in your contract?

Maybe take a photo from the scaffolding or a picture where no part of the scaffolding is covering the problematic area?
Patching work is quite common during construction, so what exactly is the issue with that?

Otherwise, please provide a more detailed photo, as mentioned.

I also don’t think that’s acceptable.
Instead of cutting a suitable stone, various materials that were lying around the construction site were used to patch it up.
Certainly, it might be durable, but the essential properties of the materials are completely different.
I wouldn’t accept it like that.
It actually looks more like the apprentice’s practice piece.
