Hello, first a little about me. I am a complete novice when it comes to construction and am currently building a single-family house. I have a quick question. I am standing in the shell of the first floor where the bathroom will soon be. The concrete ceiling has already been poured. My question: I can’t see any recess for a wastewater pipe going down. Is it usually channeled through the wall, or was the recess forgotten? Thanks

You probably have a detailed execution plan that you signed. Everything should be visible there. If nothing is available yet, it might be that a core drilling will be done later. It’s a bit like putting the cart before the horse, but it does happen.

I am having the plumbing installations done by a different company, not the construction company. However, I can't reach anyone at the plumbing company... probably because it's the weekend...

There is an execution plan in place, as construction is never started without one. However, in this case, communication was probably poor or nonexistent, so each trade is doing its own thing... which basically leads to a core drilling.
