Hello everyone,

I’m a bit frustrated... I just can’t seem to find a suitable solution for our waste separation. I would like to have a waste sorting system for the cabinet under the sink. But it’s not that easy. Our landlord seems to have chosen a rather unusual cabinet width—namely the 50cm (20 inches) size. So the RATIONELL wire basket, silver-colored (item number: 800.359.15), would fit width-wise (45.5cm (18 inches)). However, ideally, I would like to convert the cabinet door into a pull-out. Currently, the door opens like a regular side-hinged door.

Apparently, the 50cm (20 inches) cabinet version at my local IKEA is only available in a set of three, and the problem is also that I think it goes too deep into the cabinet. I only have 50cm (20 inches) depth because the sink hoses are located there.

Does anyone know of an alternative or maybe a kind of DIY combination? I would really appreciate your help.

Regards,
J

I have the standard pull-out system in my sink cabinet, but the hoses don’t extend that far into the cabinet. It’s specified as 53 cm (21 inches), but the drawer itself is actually only 52 cm (20.5 inches) deep.
Basically, you can install almost any pull-out system you want. The original of the IKEA RATIONELL pull-outs is the Blum Tandembox plus, which comes in various depths. Other manufacturers include Hettich, Grass, Salice, Harn, and more. You should take a look at the manufacturers’ websites and suppliers to see what suits your needs.
