I have a precast concrete beam ceiling (see attachment)… I want to install a recessed light fixture measuring 18 x 18 cm (7 x 7 inches) and 10 cm (4 inches) deep in the bathroom. Is it safe to cut a 18 x 18 cm (7 x 7 inches) opening in the ceiling? Will this cause any structural issues? I want to avoid installing a suspended ceiling. Thanks

probably won't be developed

I don't think anyone can give a definitive answer on this. I recently wanted to discuss a change to the roof structure with my architect. He said: Since the structural engineer says "No," I can't say otherwise, even if I think it could be justifiable.

I have a ceiling structure that is 50cm (20 inches) thick, with 26cm (10 inches) of insulation. I want to avoid installing a suspended ceiling because it would require redoing the exhaust ventilation and would reduce the room height to only 2.15m (7 feet). However, if there is a risk of compromising the ceiling’s load-bearing capacity, I have no other choice.

Concrete element with reinforcing bars, red marking indicates faulty installation.

It doesn’t always have to be “everything” “always” so cool.
There are certainly good lighting solutions where the construction is installed under the ceiling.
Lowering the entire ceiling just because a spotlight needs to be integrated in one spot seems excessive to me.
But I know how it is... when you have a plan and it doesn’t go smoothly... that can be difficult 🙄

Wouldn’t a round or square LED panel work as well?
Good idea.
I did the same in my small office. The panel is only 45mm (1.8 inches) thick and practically blends into the ceiling visually.

Good heavens – you don’t often treat yourself like this...

As shown in the picture with the red X, that would probably be the case – but those are holes for spotlights the size of subwoofers, and the picture again shows a ceiling made of lightweight concrete panels, whereas you were talking about bricks.
