beckl198828 Dec 2021 22:44I have a precast concrete beam ceiling (see attachment)… I want to install a recessed light fixture measuring 18 x 18 cm (7 x 7 inches) and 10 cm (4 inches) deep in the bathroom. Is it safe to cut a 18 x 18 cm (7 x 7 inches) opening in the ceiling? Will this cause any structural issues? I want to avoid installing a suspended ceiling. Thanks
If cuts are made between the beams, I would consider it (but I wouldn't be sure either... it really depends on what is happening above). Cutting into a beam—or even completely through one—should definitely be avoided.
