Hello everyone,

We are currently planning the lighting for our living room / living and dining area. This is a relatively large room with a floor area of about 54 m² (580 sq ft) and a considerable ceiling height (4.50 meters / 14 ft 9 in under the ridge). The room also has a sloped roof.

We are currently favoring the installation of a track lighting system. During my research, I came across various suppliers but keep coming back to the 3-phase track system from SLV called "S-Track." Has anyone had experience with the workmanship, quality, and compatibility with other manufacturers? As far as I understand, almost all luminaires from other manufacturers can be used with this track system.

The DALI connection is important to us because we want to integrate the lighting control into our smart home system (Loxone). I know there is also a system from Molte Luce, but that greatly exceeds our budget.

Are there any alternatives to the S-Track system?

I often read about EUTRAC. Sometimes it is mentioned as SLV EUTRAC (the same manufacturer as S-Track), and other times just EUTRAC. Are these two different systems? Also, are they not DALI-compatible, or am I mistaken?

Installation
As mentioned before, the system is to be installed on the sloped ceiling. We are not yet sure whether to mount it directly on the ceiling or in a suspended form.
Is there anything from an installation or track lighting perspective against direct mounting on the sloped ceiling? The tracks would then be mounted with the slope of approximately 21° (roof is not very steep), and the fixtures would need to be aligned accordingly or, if suspended, would again be vertical.

Best regards
