Hello everyone,

There was a planning mistake made in the guest bathroom of our preferred property.

The utility connections are located "inside" the shower. They need to be accessed at least once a year. The opening is about 1m x 0.6m (3.3 ft x 2 ft) in size.

Currently, as shown in the picture, the opening is covered with a plastic sheet.

What creative ideas do you have for adding something nice and waterproof that doesn’t have to be permanently installed?

We were thinking of a folding bathtub screen with an opaque frosted glass look. However, that would unfortunately block access to the shelf.

Thanks

Small bathroom with gray tiles, yellow vacuum cleaner, toilet paper roll, white cloth.

There are special access panels designed for showers. If you enter the terms "access panel" and "waterproof" into your preferred search engine, you will quickly find suitable options. Please keep in mind that the rubber seals need to be maintained periodically.

Thanks, but the largest ones I found are 60x60cm (24x24 inches). I would need a custom size then... was hoping for a more affordable solution.

They are also available in larger sizes; just give a manufacturer a call. Do you need it this big? Or wouldn’t it be easier to reduce the hole size?

Does anyone have any other ideas?
