Hello everyone,

Our heating installer has routed the pipes and cables to the outdoor unit of our heat pump as shown in the photos. We suspect that this type of wall penetration and pipe installation is not very professional, and we wonder how this is supposed to be sealed properly and how the plasterer can apply plaster neatly here. Does anyone have tips or photos on how this is usually done properly?

Are there still possibilities to make this look reasonably neat without having to dismantle the pipes/cables? Or is this okay and we are just worrying unnecessarily?

Open break in brick wall; black flexible cables secured with cable ties.

Thanks a lot!

Take a look at the Aquarea Club; there are many example systems with photos. In our case, each pipe has its own drilling hole, including the electrical cable. There are clamps that fit around the pipe and can be covered with plaster, at least for the interior plaster. For the exterior, we did not apply any plaster.

Okay, this isn’t acceptable; how is this supposed to be waterproof? But maybe someone with more expertise can provide some insight.

With us, the flexible pipe with Armaflex insulation stops before the exterior wall; copper piping goes through the wall. The insulation is rigid and sheathed. Inside, at the plaster, and outside, it was sealed again.

The Armaflex insulation and empty conduits/protective pipes for the electrical wiring are not airtight by themselves/inside, so this should be improved.

Thank you, boxandroof. It looks similar to what you describe and show in many photos on the aquarea Club site. The usual procedure will probably be to drill one hole per cable/pipe and then seal it.

We will make sure to raise this issue with the heating installer and the architect :-( ...
