I wouldn’t make such a decision alone; someone knowledgeable should be involved. Waterproofing and similar aspects are an important point. The money needed for that can certainly be well invested.

So, we also removed old frames at our place. The damage to the plaster inside was minor and was repaired quite quickly. What kind of expected damage on the outside are they referring to? The window is being removed from the inside after all.
