Hello everyone,

I would like to cover my ceiling with drywall; it was previously covered with wood.

The concrete ceiling is about 20cm (8 inches) thick, and the old wooden substructure with 2cm (1 inch) thick formwork boards is still attached to the concrete ceiling with screws. I would like to use this to screw on standard drywall panels. Spacing of up to 50cm (20 inches) is possible.

Above the room/office is the children's room. Is it worthwhile for soundproofing to install a metal stud substructure with rubber-mounted hangers and one layer of Knauf Diamant drywall panels?

The costs are naturally significantly higher than the standard method… how big is the difference?

It is a 20cm (8 inch) concrete ceiling. What improvement is a drywall panel supposed to achieve there?

Structure-borne sound transmission from the office to the children's room is unlikely with 20 cm (8 inches) of concrete. Airborne sound reflection within the office occurs due to all smooth surfaces.
