ᐅ Counter battens – Different cross-section profiles

Hello.

Several carpenters are proposing different cross-section dimensions in their quotes, for example
  • 40/60
  • 30/80
  • 40/80

Does this make a difference, or is it basically the same for us?

In my opinion, dimensions of 80 mm are unusual. Are you sure about that? Usually, a counter batten of 40/60 mm (1.6/2.4 inches) is used. It is tall enough to provide good ventilation and wide enough to cover the joint of two supporting battens.
