Hello everyone,

we need to start thinking about the design of our entrance platform. It should be quite simple.
Single step, 1.8m x 1.5m (6 ft x 5 ft)
The platform will be paved, with light gray stone in the center and a dark gray border.

What rough costs can we expect for this?

I have attached a plan. The dashed area is meant to be light gray stone, and the dotted area the dark gray border.

Hello, you can’t really say that in general terms. It depends on the type of stone and what kind of preparatory work you can do, among other factors.

Since we want a rounded base, I would have everything done professionally. Otherwise, it will turn out uneven and crooked.
For the stone, we actually wanted something simple. So, no full granite slabs.
Basically like in the picture, but with the steps in dark gray and preferably made from smaller stones.

Bright house entrance, three-step staircase, two green conifers in blue pots.

Smaller stones, such as granite stones that can be set in mortar in any shape, are more affordable than a uniform slab. A landscaper should not need more than a day for this job. I would also factor in the base preparation and the mortar/grouting! 1000/1500

You will be certain once you ask a landscaper. I would recommend getting up to three quotes.

The civil engineer specializing in groundwork might also be suitable.

We did something similar to what @ypg describes. For the border, we used dark gray granite pillars, and the inside was paved with slightly lighter granite pavers of the same size. Our platform is really small, only 1.70 x 0.60 meters (5.6 x 2 feet), and it cost around 400 euros.
