annerubia23 May 2011 17:47Hello,
on our single-family house with a gable roof, the shed dormer is now being covered with roof tiles. This is at our request because we still have enough roof tiles left for the area, and we were not convinced by the quality of the solution with roofing felt.
The contractor told me that he had to order 10 verge tiles – that makes sense to me. But he said this would cost 800€ – which doesn’t make sense. Verge tiles can’t be that expensive. Of course, he will try to pass these costs on to us (it should be mentioned that the dormer is a design flaw and will be integrated into the facade, since there is no roof substructure).
Are these costs of 800 euros for an area of max. 7m² (75 sq ft) not somewhat overestimated???
As mentioned, field tiles are still available, as well as wood for the substructure and vapor barrier.
Looking forward to your responses – and sympathy 🙁
