Hello,

I am wondering if it makes sense, when planning for additional power outlets, to simply increase the number of sockets in the standard outlet. For example, turning a single outlet into a double, triple, or even quadruple outlet, rather than creating many separate outlets around the room. Does the choice between these options affect cost or effort?

Thanks!

That depends on the calculation. Our electrician charged per outlet—regardless of whether it was installed individually in an otherwise empty corner or was the fourth in a row. So, he used a mixed calculation. The first probably required about 100 euros in effort, while the latter I estimate was around 10 euros.

The question is also what this is supposed to achieve, if anything. What’s important is that electrical outlets are installed wherever potential devices are expected to be connected. And if a fixed appliance is already planned for various locations during the design phase, there should always be at least one additional outlet there.

With us, an electrical outlet next to an existing one costs about €35, while a new outlet in a free location costs around €80. The outlets included in the price can be placed freely, allowing you to get multiple outlets relatively inexpensively anywhere.

Single unit €39, double unit €48, triple unit €58.

I will go with the triple units everywhere unless space constraints prevent it.

Ask the electrician what he charges for the different options. Only then can you start calculating.
