RBotter-125 Jun 2012 22:57We want to renovate the basement for the kids. Since the floor is very cold there, we plan to install underfloor heating. What costs should we expect for two rooms, each about 18 m² (193.8 ft²)? Is it possible to do some of the work yourself?

You can do almost everything yourself in construction, but you need to have the necessary knowledge. In the case of underfloor heating, you must be able to connect the pipes, possibly solder them, and properly install the heated screed; finally, the technically required commissioning procedure must be carried out. All of this involves potential for errors, which could ultimately make a DIY underfloor heating system more costly.

Annegret-112 Dec 2014 06:30People who are skilled with their hands take care of almost everything themselves. My husband is such a craftsman, and he installed underfloor heating afterwards. These heating mats are from Devimat, and the manufacturer also provided all the details.
Our room is 20 m² (215 sq ft), and for that, we paid around 3,000 Swiss francs, I believe. In addition, there are the accessories.

Urs1988-119 Jan 2015 15:36Hello,
That much is clear: by doing the work yourself, you save a lot on labor costs. 3,000 francs is already a good price, and a professional contractor would definitely charge much more. But as mentioned before, everything must be built professionally. Otherwise, disappointment will follow.
Best regards
