Hello forum,

I registered here because we plan to build a prefabricated house in the near future. Beforehand, I want to clarify as much as possible, especially regarding the technical aspects.

The telecom connection is clear, a flat fee of €384 (approx. $410), regardless of whether it is used or not.

I also requested an offer from Kabel Deutschland for setting up a handover point. The work should include as much self-performed labor as possible. Now I have received an offer for €199 (approx. $215). The service includes laying the cable through a duct that I prepare on the property to the house and connecting the handover point.

What I wonder is: how does the cable get to my building site if it’s not already there, and who pays for that? I assume Kabel Deutschland does, right? Because in the letter it says:
“The house connection includes the costs for civil engineering and installation work including materials and the excavation permit from the municipal authority responsible for road maintenance. ...”

So, I think this price is inclusive, right?

I already called the hotline once, but I don’t always trust them and prefer to get more reliable information.

Also, I was told on the phone that I should sign now because next year the costs will increase by a factor of 5! I find that hard to believe.

And the question I still have is: does the price only apply if I actually use the connection?

Thanks to all of you!

Then just ask Kabel Deutschland! With Unitymedia, the price at least depends on whether you commit to a contract with the provider. Price difference about EUR 200.
