Hello,

What does it cost to completely clear a 400m2 (4,300 sq ft) garden? About 5 trees (assuming they can be felled) and a lot of undergrowth. How much should I expect to pay for heavy equipment, disposal, and possibly new soil?

An old house is going to be demolished in the garden. Only 400m2 (4,300 sq ft) of the plot is in such bad shape that it needs to be handled by a professional company.

If this is truly primary forest (which accounts for less than 0.8% of the total forest area in Germany), I would buy the plot from you today just to preserve the valuable nature.

Prices vary widely depending on the region and the company, so get three quotes. If the trees are suitable for firewood, you can have them removed by people who take the wood as payment. This will reduce your costs but will increase your logistics effort.

Twenty years ago, it was just a normal garden. By calling it an old-growth forest, I only wanted to describe how much nature has reclaimed the garden.

It's hard to estimate based on the information provided.

UrWALD: 5 trees on 400 m2 (4305 sq ft)...
Which is it now?

Cutting down a tree can range from using a handsaw to requiring a cherry picker or climbing work due to nearby buildings.

Can the excavator reach the brush behind the house?
...

You can't do anything before October anyway. Use the time to contact smaller local companies (contractors, for example).

Take pictures, accurately describe the desired task, and specify it on meinhammer. I have had the best experience with this, and mostly smaller, reliable companies respond. The prices can be surprising... in both directions.

Leave it if you don’t need the space. In the “jungle” around my house, there are so many birds living.
Recently, I counted 38 tits and sparrows, a pair of pigeons, and a pair of jays, as well as some dunnocks and wrens.
Every now and then, a common buzzard passes by.
Swallows and blackbirds only come by to feed.

Otherwise, review what you have and keep whatever is still in good condition. Mature trees are beautiful and help create a pleasant climate in summer. Maybe there are also perennials or other useful plants for you.
