Hello everyone!
While trying to estimate our construction costs, I discovered thanks to the lists here in the forum that we were about to forget the driveway / entrance area!
As a reference, I found that one should expect around 10,000–15,000 Euros. Is this realistic for an area of about 66 sqm (710 sq ft)?
I know it’s difficult to give a specific price. If we say: simple concrete slabs / stones, area about 66 sqm (710 sq ft), in Upper Bavaria – could we say we are likely looking at a range between 10,000 and 15,000 Euros?
The same area is currently covered with old concrete. Do you have an idea how much removing it might cost?
(Assuming my husband doesn’t want to try out his new pneumatic hammer 🙂 )
Once we get that far, I will post the specific quotes we receive here.

@xray107 were those the pure material costs? No, those were the total costs per square meter.
The base was prepared and compacted with gravel, the paving was installed and jointed.
However, we did not have any "historic contamination" or waste to dispose of, as the site was previously farmland... ;-)
Now I’m wondering which option makes more sense:
I hope the situation is clear from the picture below 🙂

- demolishing the concrete driveway together with the old garage (probably cheaper?), but then trucks, cranes, etc. would have to operate on bare soil, or
- first demolishing only the garage and only after the house is completed removing and repaving the concrete driveway? (that’s what my husband prefers)
I hope the situation is clear from the picture below 🙂
Oops... I think I forgot to mention an important point: the garage will be demolished before construction begins. The new house will be built in its place and beyond.
The question is whether the concrete driveway should also be removed during the demolition, so everything is done at once, or only after the house is completed, to prevent the crane and trucks from getting stuck in the mud.
So you also think the concrete slabs should stay until the house is finished? 🙂

If the crane can and should be placed there (dismantling still possible once the house is standing), leave them in place. Otherwise, the slabs will be removed and gravel will be added afterward.
