Hello everyone,
we have another issue with our new build...
Many of the corner profiles embedded in the plaster are corroded, even though these galvanized profiles shouldn’t really rust. The expert demands a complete replacement. Of course, this involves more effort and cost, so the construction company resists and says that sanding them down and applying zinc spray is sufficient. We are naturally concerned and suspect that corrosion will continue underneath and sooner or later (probably later) show through the paint or wallpaper/fleece.
Has anyone had experience with this, and what are your opinions?
P.S. We had a similar issue before with the profile carriers in the drywall – there they actually sanded them down and treated them with zinc spray.

First of all: I have never seen anything like this before, and my initial thought was that the wrong profiles were used. We have worked with various manufacturers and have never encountered rust issues. Of course, the effort is significant for the builder (BU), but I don’t think I would rely on zinc spray to prevent rust for the next 70 years – interior plaster really does last indefinitely. I would also insist on a replacement. I am concerned that the rust will eventually reappear sooner or later.

It helped me to further support my request during the inspection required today by the building supervisor (fully anonymized, of course). The appointment was set too early anyway, and I still find it outrageous that they insist on carrying it out at all costs while numerous tradespeople are still on site, work is unfinished, and significant reported defects have not been resolved. I suspect the construction company wanted to obtain the document in order to deny all responsibility afterward.
