Hello everyone,
After reading a lot here and planning for three months now, I’m trying to get some help.
The plot is complicated, maybe a bit narrow to also fit a separate apartment on the ground floor.
We are unsure how to “split” the plot.
Who should get the west or east side?
Which street should the house face?
The 5.5 m (18 ft) setback area on the north side suggests itself as the driveway/parking area. Also, no one wants a north-facing garden.
We all want sunlight somehow, but with further construction progress on other houses (marked in red) and the low sun angle, hardly any sun reaches the southern area.
The separate apartment really only needs a sunny terrace (because mowing the lawn will get harder with age).
I’ve simply added the architect’s two drafts here.

hanghaus202330 Oct 2024 12:14Hello @ypg I’ve made some quick notes on your plan—don’t take them too seriously.
The terrace can also be designed separately. Perhaps the small projection from the upper floor could serve as a covered entrance? However, having the hallway in the center is probably better. If you create a visualization, I would like to see that version.

I really like the design.
Sometimes I don’t quite understand the “elephant” either. You show the stepped-back upper floor, then the idea comes up again in the next post.

The small projection from the upper floor, maybe as a porch cover? That was exactly the plan, although due to its size not for the main entrance, but for the garbage area.

The hallway in the middle is probably better though. Yes, I don’t find the offset very suitable for seniors.
The south-facing terrace is obviously right at the property boundary. But you can and should separate with privacy screens and greenery.
However, I don’t want to set anything in stone; often many things can be swapped or positioned differently. Only if the square meters are tight, the daily routine should be able to flow smoothly within the design.

That was exactly the plan, not for the entrance due to the size, but for the trash bins.Okay, I don’t need to cover the trash bins, and having them right next to the entrance isn’t ideal either. ypg schrieb:

The south-facing terrace is very close to the property boundary.Yes, it’s quite shaded there. But the morning sun should reach it. Maybe we won’t have much sun in the garden later on.

You show the attic floor. Then he introduces the idea in the next post.I see Yvonne’s post #40, and the building composition makes me think of the original bungalow. Then my phone rings, I have to get back to work—my day isn’t just about the forum, especially not on monitor 1. Meanwhile, I dig through my memories to recall where or who that was … Jura house … ah yes, it was called KingSong … I’ll look it up and link it later. Meanwhile, life and working hours continue, and no one has paused the internet. When I finally find the time to write again, several more posts have appeared, which is not a problem. As long as no harm is done beyond the accurate impression that the old white man isn’t the fastest, so what. Sometimes I act as the memory here, but never as the official realtime speed moderator.https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/
